1. Brian and I are hosting our second annual St. Patrick’s Day Party tomorrow! I am so excited to be outside celebrating the holiday that I most strongly equate with the beginning of Spring. Hello 70 degree weather in Dallas!

2. I am officially re-doing our guest room and turning it in to my office space! Ahh! I am so, so excited for this DIY project and can’t wait to see the finished result. Look for before and after pictures next week. I am pinning all sorts of inspiration to my Pinterest board, and am welcoming any and all advice and tips on how to transform a space (primarily if these tips involve the best ways to sand/prime/paint furniture). Help, please!

3. All this uproar in the blogoshere about the end of Google Reader does not phase me at all. I’ve been a Bloglovin fan since I began this blog, and you should hop on the bandwagon! It’s a great way to have all your favorites in one space, and to be able to organize all the different types of blogs you follow. While you are at it, follow me!

4. Happy Birthday to one of my absolute favorite people! Lindsey is one of those friends that is genuine, kind, easy to talk to, and SO much fun! I became fast friends with her, and now count her as one of my very best (albeit) long distance friends. I hope you have the best day celebrating with Kris & crew, Linds! Lots of love!

5. Blog love of the week: Shutterbean! I love the vivid pictures with fantastic lighting, the utterly delicious recipes and the “I love Lists Friday” series. Because, let’s be honest, don’t we all love lists, deep down inside? No? Well, we certainly all love waffles (with bacon!!) and sweet potato fries, so this blog is a win.

6. I’ve also learned about this resource this week, and I am loving the wealth of information provided on the site. Need an example? This article is straight forward and useful…especially considering the musings I’ve been having lately regarding my blog/blogging.

7. That said, I have some exciting changes coming to my blog in the near future, so stay tuned!

8. Cheers to Weekending, xoxo

1. I am such a summer-y girl; there is really nothing I love more than being barefoot on the beach. While I do enjoy skiing, I would take warm days, sunglasses and flip-flops, over cold and cloudy days anytime. Summer, please hurry up?!

2. With the help and creative skills of my friend Alessandra, I revamped my blog this week! I am loving the new look, the original title, and the fresh start. What do you think?!

3. I also may or may not have cried watching (for the first time) The Biggest Loser, while running at the gym on Monday night. Yes, that is right. On the treadmill. Actual tears. #inspired

4. Last night, Brian and I ate here, courtesy of my sweet sister’s Christmas present to us. I seriously loved the atmosphere, the food, and the very-Texas charm. Thank you so much, Abbie!!  P.S. Brian, can you be home every week?!

5. And speaking of food, this is going to be quite the foodie weekend for us. Tonight, Brian is cashing in on a friendly bet he won, and we will be dining here. Tomorrow, I think this treat is on the menu, and I am hoping to cook up something delicious on Sunday. Yum!

6. Blog crush of the week: here we go! I love the wealth of information shopping ideas provided on this site, and am already excited to use it as a resource for gift ideas! Let’s also talk about how obsessed I am with her “Home Tour”. L O V E.

7. We found out this week that we have been placed in a Foundation Group (for young married couples) at Watermark! I am thrilled to begin getting to know other people in our stage of life, and to really grow closer as a couple. Blessed & pumped.

8. Congratulations to Brian and Jared on their company’s first investment! I am so proud of my very entrepreneurial husband, and look forward to all of the great things to come with this new venture!

9. Happy Weekending, cheers to Friday! xo

The Heart of Life

1. Happy March! I know the official start of Spring is still weeks away, but not even a few more chilly days can contain my excitement for this impending season. I love Spring for it’s fresh starts, new beginnings, and beautiful transfomations (could I be any more vague?). But seriously. The entirety of Spring just seems like that moment: that moment when you first get out of bed in the morning, stretch from your toes to your fingertips, and exhale contentedly. Time for a fresh start. Ok, ok, tangent over.

2. But one last thing about March. In what has become in annual challenge to ourselves, Brian and I have decided that each year we are claiming March as our “No Shopping” month. Why? Um, frankly, because it’s good for us to practice self-control. Also, we are in money-saving mode. And lastly, we don’t lack for anything (so thankful!!), and it helps us really determine the hard and fast line between need and want. For instance, we obviously still grocery shop in March, and there are several birthdays we will be celebrating, too. No shopping/buying just applies to our personal wants. Sooooo, here we go.

3. And speaking of birthdays….shout out to my dear friend, Marmie, who is celebrating the big 2-5 today! Happy Birthday Sweet Friend!! (I love this picture of Marmie, myself, Whitney and Natalie. We were roommates while studying abroad in Spain and I can honestly say, some of the best months and memories of my life were spent with these girls). I am also looking forward to celebrating my mother-in-law’s upcoming birthday, and Abbie’s, too! Basically, birthdays are my favorite holiday.

4. Yesterday I worked all day in the Denver airport. So, yeah, there was a LOT of people-watching going on. Does that make me a creeper? I just find people in airports so facinating; I feel people’s true colors come out when they have the burden and stress of travel on thier shoulders. I guess that’s what I get for spending four years of my life pouring over anthropology case studies.

5. Check out my new favorite blog for inspiration. I particulary love the “What to Wear Wednesday” series because I need the help, and seeing an outfit put together always makes it seem much more feasable to my very non-visonary brain.

6. And speaking of not being a visionary (which I so wish I were…) my pratical, yet stylish mother (who has a tremendous eye, especially when it comes to home decor) gave me some very helpful tips regarding my bedroom-redo this week. I am sure Brian would approve of them because her main tip was to keep most of the bedroom the way it is and start small when it comes to changing up the style. So, I took her advice, and bought these curtains to introduce lighter colors that I want in our bedroom. I think they will brighten the whole room and add a fresh and airy look. Plus they were on sale! Win-win.

7. We are spending one last snow-filled weekend in the Mountains with our Colorado Crew. So excited for these last few days on the slopes, and time with some of my favorite people. And ok…maybe a little pumped for this, too.

8. Happy Weekending! Cheers to Friday! xo

The Heart of Life

1. There is nothing quite like a weekend at home. On the agenda? Time with friends, perhaps a bike ride or two (weather depending), and good old to-do lists around the house with my favorite guy. Life is good.

2. And speaking of home, Brian and I are beyond excited to welcome some very special visitors to our adopted hometown in March and May and can’t wait to show them all of our favorite things to do in Big D!

3. Is anyone else getting the itch for Spring?! (Hello, Kansas friends–I feel for ya buried under all that snow!) I am ready for some warm sunshine, weekends spent entirely outside–even if just on a patio sipping mimosas (it’s what we do), and the return of some of our favorite activities: road biking, triathlons, and wakeboarding!

4. Check out my new favorite blog to follow here. I basically live vicariously through anyone living in NYC. But also love her down-to-earth, relatable style.

5. Speaking of new favorites, I am considering a bedroom makeover and love this site and this site for their great discounts and broad range of styles offered. But, while I browse for ideas and too-good-to-pass-up sales, I am limiting my makeover to fresh flowers; they make a world of a difference for any room.

6. Remember this race that I just did? Well, it’s officially time to stop recovering and start moving again, because I have this one coming up in just one month. The course map was just released, and I am really excited to be running through my little corner of Dallas for this event–even coming within three blocks of my home!

7. Thinking of trying some of these snacks for my Oscars Watch Party with the family. So looking forward to seeing the fashion on Hollywood’s most glamorous night.

8. Happy Weekending, cheers to Friday! xo

The Heart of Life

1. I can almost hear a collective sigh of relief from every man in America. Valentine’s Day is over! In other news…I think February 15th should be a national holiday for men.

2. But, as for my Valentine, we are not celebrating until tomorrow, by taking a cooking class. I am so excited for this new experience!

3. People always ask me if it’s hard that my husband travels all the time. Short answer: Of course! Long answer: We make it work by prioritizing each other, communicating, making the most of the time we do have together, and always having fun together. Our latest way to “play” while apart? Words With Friends.

4. Brian and I have decided to get involved at Church by signing up for a small group with other married couples. I am excited to get to know other people in our “life stage” so we can begin to encourage and challenge each other.

5. If Froggie had a twin, I am sure this would be him. #puppylove

6. New Obsessions? This blog and this show. I really need to get a life…

7. It’s been cloudy and dreary in Dallas lately and I am just ready for some warm sunshine. My fix to the wintry blues? A new shampoo that is all things coconut. It’s like summer in a bottle. Bliss.

8. And speaking of summer…thanks to a Nordstrom gift card for my birthday, I am excitedly awaiting the arrival of these shoes in the mail. And also summer so I can wear them.

9. Happy Weekending! Cheers to Friday. xo

The Heart of Life

1. I am overwhelmingly grateful for all of the birthday love I received this week! Thank you all, it means so much.

2. Tomorrow is the big day. The big, 15k day. Eeeeeeek. I am nervous…and excited. But mostly nervous.

3. “Where there is cake, there is love“–the motto of La Duni, my favorite Dallas restaurant. And this could not be more true than it was on Monday night when my sweet husband surprised me by ordering my favorite cake, Venezuelan Rum, when Abbie and I went to dinner for my birthday. Delightful–and delicious–surprise!

4. And speaking of sweet treats, I experienced Trailercakes for the first time this week, thanks to Kristin! Oh my goodness, soooo good. I highly recommend the Cookie Monster cupcake. It’s oreo. Need I say more?

5. I am also incredibly excited to dive in to this entertaining guide, and try out some of the ideas! Also, not gonna lie, I am just super-pumped it’s written by a Middleton sister. Woo! Thank you, Marmie!

6. Today is an exciting day in the Tochman household. After months of deliberation and quotes, we are having our mantle built! I can tell I am an adult now, as this is truly exciting news. Pictures to follow…

7. This weekend, after running nine miles and eating to my heart’s content at brunch afterward, I am very much looking forward to being lazy and finally watching Skyfall. I can’t believe I never caught it in theaters, but have heard great things, and am sooo excited to crash out on the couch and enjoy! Pass the popcorn, please.

8. Wishing you a fantastic weekend with plenty of R&R!
